I love finding inspiration from the world around me. I am obsessed with flowers, but I am not the best gardener in the world. There is something so charming about a cluster of Forget-Me-Nots, and as legend has it:
In 15th-century Germany, it was supposed that the wearers of the flower would not be forgotten by their lovers. Legend has it that in medieval times, a knight and his lady were walking along the side of a river. He picked a posy of flowers, but because of the weight of his armour he fell into the river. As he was drowning he threw the posy to his loved one and shouted "Forget-me-not." It was often worn by ladies as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love.
This is a lovely trinity drop of 3 copper Forget-Me-Not flowers ranging in sizes of 5/8″ to 1/4″ in diameter strung on to a chain adjustable from 16" to 19". Makes a fabulous gift for the bride, bridesmaids, girlfriend, mother or yourself!
I live in an old Edwardian Era House built turn of the last century. It is nestled amongst the corn fields of rural Illinois. When we bought the house a few years back, we were literally saving it from near death. There were plans to bulldoze the house and reclaim the land and 10 acres of surrounding “yard” for farming purposes again. Slowly we have been bringing the old girl back to life. Recently, we have completely replaced and updated all of the original electrical system in the house. The wiring we removed was installed in the 1930′s during the time of “Rural Electrification”. After removing all of the old wire we had what seems like mile of thick old lovely copper wire. I was so entranced by its beauty that I wove myself a bracelet from the scraps around me. That simple gesture ignited a passion in me that became the foundation of “Luster”. I am now reclaiming that old wire and giving it a new life in my jewelry.
So, when you wear these copper items, you can have a cool story and a little bit of history to go along with it now! I hope you enjoy wearing it as much as I have enjoyed making it.
Did you know that Copper is the official gift for the 7th wedding Anniversary?
All copper items will be coated in a Jewelry Grade Lacquer Sealer to help preserve its Luster and finish. Jewelry items will also come packaged in a lovely gift box so it is ready to give as a gift to someone you love…even to yourself!
